First Annual Meeting 5th to 7th October 2005 in the Netherlands
The First Annual Meeting brought together in the small town of Valkenburg near Maastricht delegations from the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands. The main results of the meeting are:
Adoption of the Mission Statement
Start of working groups
Working Group 1: Teaching the host country language
The overriding aim of the group will be the transfer of know-how from EQUAL I to EQUAL II and from development partnerships (SEPA & Fluequal) of one of the old European countries (Germany) to one of the new members of the EU (WIP in the Czech Republic)
Working Group 2: Integration into the host countryâs society
The group will concentrate on the identification of critical success factors fort he integration into the labour market of the host country for those migrants or asylum holders who are legally entitled to stay in the country. This task will be accomplished by the members of WIN (NL) and WIP (CZ)
Working Group 3: Reintegration to country of origin
The members of SEPA (D) and TOP (NL) will concentrate on preparation of self-employment for those who have to go back to their country of origin and who want to do the first steps in their host country
Planning of events and activities
Working Group 1: Beside the exchange of know-how via the internet-based forum of âThe Allianceâ staff exchange between the two DPs and a meeting of the group early next year in Prague are foreseen
Working Group 2: Until middle of January the literature on success factors for integration should be analysed to set the floor for practical level work.
Working Group 3: In December two workshops on âWays to self-employmentâ are planned within the national activities of SEPA in EQUAL II. Members of TOP will participate in these workshops as observers. In addition an example for an internet-based interactive learning tool for the preparation of self-employment will be established
Further decisions taken
A zero-number of a âThe Allianceâ â Newsletter (comparable to the one of SEPA in EQUAL II (see under Forum â Secretariat â Public Relations) will be prepared. The different partners to send the descriptions/logos to the secretariat for further processing.
The use of the forum shall be promoted by a number of regulations concerning the exchange of information and comments
The meeting was well prepared and took place in the pleasant atmosphere of Valkenburg. On the last day the group moved to the town hall of Maastricht where a successful transnational encounter held its final meeting. Participants expressed their satisfaction with the enthusiasm of group work, the joyful evening programme and their gratitude towards the efforts of the hosts.
